Created For You

The Painting Landscapes in Acrylics programme from “You CAN Draw and Paint” is aimed at beginners or those returning to painting.

Right from the start you will be working alongside me to create your own unique works of art in every lesson in every module.

The carefully structured programme takes you step-by-step through a series of 5 thematic modules each based on key elements within landscape painting.

Modular Themes

Each of the 5 modules has a particular theme:

• Creating distance in landscapes
• Pathways to lead the viewer into the scene – or block them
• Depicting water from calm to raging
• Depicting trees in different shapes and seasons
• Bridges across rivers and canals

Each of the 5 modules has 5 lesson packages based on that theme.

Lesson Packages

Each lesson package includes:

- A tutorial with explanations and examples on that week’s particular topic plus the vital element of every painting: composition;

- A pre-painting workshop for you to take part in focusing on an aspect of the main painting;

- The main painting video where you follow me step-by-step through a painting exercise from its composition and initial sketch to the finished scene

Your Progression

Each lesson builds on skills and elements learned in previous lessons and modules and sets you up for success in future modules.

As you work through the programme you will learn how to break down and then recreate a scene so that you can do it from your own photographs and even go out and work on location to paint from life
en plein air.

A new lesson package is made available each week, allowing you time to consolidate the learning in one lesson before progressing to the next. With Premier membership, you also have a lifetime's access to the teaching materials giving you help and inspiration whenever you need it.

Painting is the Creation of an Illusion

In this course, you will delight in discovering – and practicing - the secrets behind creating a myriad of landscape ‘illusions’ as you paint 3D scenes on a 2D surface.

Even more delightful is the fact that with this programme you don’t need lots of expensive equipment in order to create these 'illusions’.

In addition to the 5 key module themes, you will learn the simple ways to use the rules of perspective and to add the human figure to bring life to your works of art.

Two payment options

There are two payment options for the Painting Landscapes in Acrylics Premier programme: a single one-off payment or 5 convenient monthly instalments.

Either option will give you a lifetime's access to all the teaching materials in all the lessons and modules plus all the up-dates as they become available.

To enrol, simply scroll to the top of the page and click either the 'single payment' button or the '5 monthly payment' button to be taken to the appropriate page.

I look forward to welcoming you to our special Premier members group.

  • Equipment needed

    You only need a limited amount of equipment:

    5 tubes of acrylic paint: red (avoid reds that are heading for an orange hue), blue (avoid Cerulean blue), yellow (avoid lemon hue, yellow ochre), white and black.

    Surface to paint on: stretched canvas, canvas board, canvas paper, acrylic paper or multimedia paper (I will be using acrylic paper or multimedia paper for the painting demonstrations). You choose what size you want to use for your art works, but I will be using A3 paper (297mm x 420mm or 11.7in x 16.5 in).

    Brushes (size will depend on the size of the surface you are painting) large round or flat (I tend to use a round size 12), a middle size flat brush (can be chisel shaped), small detail brush for fine work, fan brush.

    Mixing palette - can just be an old saucer!

    Jar for water

    Pencil for initial sketch
